Baking Necessities - Get Ready for the Holidays!

Until recently, baking has not been my thing. I entered the sourdough world in January, but I only perfected my bread recipe. The few times I attempted scratch made cakes was for my son who had a severe egg allergy, and they would either fall apart or be so dense you can hardly cut it. I would feel so bad for my son if he was at an event and couldn't have something because of his allergy - especially because he wasn't old enough to understand. Luckily he officially outgrown the allergy and we are no longer restricting eggs! Pair that with our family going apple picking this fall and I learned to bake...a lot. Breads, muffins, pies, cookies, cakes, biscuits - all of the things. Specifically, cookies have become my specialty and I'm making them way too frequently to help with my postpartum weight loss! Now we have the holidays around the corner and I'm still on maternity leave, so that means I have to do tons of baking. I don't make the rules - it's just the requirement!

Kidding aside, my two big kids love to help in the kitchen, and I'm looking forward to doing a lot of holiday baking before I head back to work in January. I had to add a few supplies to my kitchen and before I can document my best baking recipes, I am making a list of what has become my go-to baking necessities!

Look - if I can find a love for baking and master a few recipes, you totally can too!

Be sure to stock up on supplies now so you're ready to make those holiday memories with your family this year. And girl math totally works in this case because you will use these supplies all year long, not just for the season!

It's a splurge, but it's so worth it! I use this all the time! Not only is the stand mixer a must for me when it comes to baking, but I love that you can purchase additional attachments. I have a cheese grater, juicer and meat grinder. My sister uses an attachment to make homemade pasta. The options are limitless and it's fabulous that you can get the attachment rather than another bulky kitchen appliance!

Reduce waste and reuse this mat, rather than using a bunch of foil or parchment paper! I definitely recommend the 2 pack so you can load up 2 sheets with your goodies instead of waiting for one to cook. These are super easy to clean, which is an added bonus.

Definitely need a cooling rack! I have one massive rack but would prefer two smaller like this.

If you're someone who wants to buy a set and not have to think too much about it, this is a great option! I love all of the things that come in this set, especially for the price!

According to Amazon, I bought these October 2020. We still have them and they're in fabulous shape. I love the size, too! Highly recommend.

I also have these and love that the cups have smaller measurement lines inside so you don't have to dirty up so many utensils.

I found the secret to the best cookies is uniformed dough balls going into the oven! My recipe was good  but using a scoop not only made it faster, but it kept the cookies all the same size to cook evenly. Definitely need the multi pack of different sizes for all of the different kinds of holiday cookies you're making this year!

An absolute must for baking! I don't think you can ever have enough of these spatulas!

Did you know making homemade biscuits is SO SO SO easy? Just a few ingredients and about 30 minutes from the time you start until the time you're eating! This set is a definite yes for hosting this year!

I don't know about you, but I don't want to store 10 cookie cutters for each holiday! This set is perfect to have fun but also not have too many things to store away (and ultimately forget about - let's be real).
