I've been a mom for 6.5 years and I am still triggered by mess. One of the things I find myself telling my kids (and myself) constantly is "it's ok to make a mess as long as you clean it up." Now bring out some beads, paint, playdough or heaven forbid, slime and I'm immediately going into anxiety mode. Not proud, but it's who I am.
If you can relate, this is the toddler gift guide for you! I promise to not include any products that includes the shit that makes us lose it.
The items I'm sharing really are or have been favorites in our house when our kids were young! I hope you find something the toddler in your life will enjoy!
Art
- Melissa & Doug Table and Chairs Set - My two oldest kids love this table! It stays in the living room and they use it daily. It's sturdy enough that my husband and I can sit in the chairs and don't have to worry about them breaking.
- Toyk Water Doodle Drawing Mat - My daughter had a few of these mats when she was about 2/3 years old and absolutely loved them! This mat is special and uses only water to make beautiful creations, which makes it a favorite for parents too! I have a special code for 40% off of this mat, so grab a few to keep on hand for birthday gifts for all of the toddlers in your life! 4Q59GTCY
- Paint with Water Books - let's the kid have fun painting without the parents freaking out over making a mess!
Outdoor
- Little Tikes Cozy Coupe Car - my son has this car and it's probably the number one toy the toddlers will fight over outside. They all love it! I really like that it comes with a removable floor. When they're too little to push themselves, you put the floor on and push the car for the kid. As they get older, the floor can be removed and use their feet to move the car.
- Little Tikes Princess Horse & Carriage - my daughter had this from ages 1-3 and played with it all the time! This is unique because the reins on the horse can flip out the front of the car to pull it like a wagon. Like the cozy coupe, it has a removable floorboard.
- Little Tikes 3' Trampoline - our friends have this and it's lightweight enough to pull outside and move around as needed. All of the neighborhood kids enjoy playing on the trampoline.
- Unicorn Rocket Launcher - always a hit!
- Balance Stepping Stones - what kid doesn't like playing floor is lava? These are perfect for the game and I love that they stack to put away neatly.
Educational
-
Tekfun LCD Writing tablet - 2 pack! - Not only is this a great tool for the child to learn to write, but it's also light weight and the perfect thing to keep toddlers entertained on the go. I highly recommend the 2 pack to keep one at home and one in the car! My daughter played with this for YEARS and would meltdown if we couldn't find it.
-
39 PCS Large Magnetic Letters and Numbers, Fridge Magnets - I've never met a kid who doesn't love magnets. May as well make it cute and educational if it's going to decorate your fridge!
Toys
- Fisher-Price Little People - OBSESSED doesn't even describe how much my 2 year old loves Little People toys. He can play with them for hours. Here are some of our favorites!
- Barn with Farmer and 4 Animals
- Farm Animals (8 pieces) - we got this to add to the barn set
- Tractor with Farmer and Dog - also got this to go with the barn set
- Big Yellow School Bus with 9 People
- Nativity Set with 18 Figures
- House with 3 People and 7 Play Pieces
- Noah's Arc with Noah and 12 Animals
- Princess Pull Along Carriage with Princesses Belle and Rapunzel
- Disney Princess Castle with Princesses Cinderella and Jasmine

- Stuffed Dog - Veterinarian Kit - my daughter still loves playing dress up and pretend doctor or vet with this set.
- Wooden Tea Set and Pretend Food - have your little girl put on a dress and have a tea party with her! Such a fun way to create memories.
- Tonies Box - I have to admit that I thought this was dumb and didn't get it for years. I was super wrong! Don't be like me and go ahead and get the box!
